So there we all were waiting patiently when the bus appeared over the horizon and stopped at the stance I'd so recently abandoned. We all looked at each other doubtfully. Must be a new system, dropping off and picking up at different stances we all thought. But no, the driver started off and clearly was not stopping to pick us up until 10 bus pass wielding citizens stepped out of the bus shelter and blocked his way. The driver was a bit grumpy when we got on and who can blame him. How's he suppposed to know it's all changed if they don't tell him? I expect what he needed was a choc n' cherry cookie to cheer him up.
Ingredients
225g soft butter
300g caster sugar
1 egg yolk
225g plain flour
55g chopped dried cherries
55g chopped dark chocolate
pinch salt
Method
Cream sugar and butter until pale. Beat in egg yolk then mix in flour, salt, cherries and chocolate. Drop tablespoonsful of mixture onto a parchment lined baking sheet and flatten slightly with the back of a spoon. Bake in oven at 160C until golden brown, 10 -12 minutes. Cool on tray for 5 minutes then transfer to cooling rack. Serve to grumpy drivers and expect cheerful service from now on!
