Multiple hole digging was needed. Two in the garden and one on the path outside the gate. The young man explaining the plan to me was most apologetic about digging up bits of my garden and wondered if there were any flowers I'd like to rescue before they started. He had to be joking. It was verging on seriously cold and the rain was pouring down my neck as we spoke. I sacrificed the plants and bulbs to progress.
Today the gas has been switched off, no hot water, no heating. Thank goodness for kneading bread. It's guaranteed to keep you warm and cooking by electricity came into its own today. Lovely warm ciabatta and a sourdough to keep us happy until the gas comes back on some time tomorrow :)
