It's residing in the special place that was meant for it and he'll never see it again. He'll just enjoy the fruits of its labours which I hope very soon will be Kugelhopf but yesterday was a chocolate and red wine (yes red wine!) Bundt cake, Need to ease back on my enthusiastic buttering of tin 'though. I over greased for fear the non- stick wasn't but I needn't have worried. Tastes good 'though. Cup of tea with that?
I treated myself to a ring cake tin yesterday. It was on special offer and made a change from buying washing powder and fabric conditioner which were the main purposes of my trip to the shop. I had a sort of ring cake tin already but it had gone a bit rusty and anyway it wasn't non stick like this one. Mr mak'Bread was a little doubtful. 'Have you not got enough cake tins?' his look implied. Well obviously, no, I haven't because I didn't have one of these, did I?

Just emerged from a day and a bit without central heating. My goodness, it was chilly yesterday. Multiple jumpers helped but my hands and feet are still blocks of ice, thawing slowly in the warmth. Yesterday we went out and had cups of coffee at a variety of venues taking the benefit of their heating before everything closed and we had to come back to the igloo. I suppose we could have gone on to the pub but Mr mak' was driving and there's a limit to how much a girl can drink alone. We are all switched back on now, faulty part replaced and radiators doing what they are supposed to do. I'm so glad there was a fault. I worry that it's something I've missed and should have fixed myself like plugging it all in. But happy ending, not down to me this time. Thank you Mr Engineer from Scottish Gas, I love you! I also love that I've now had some return on years of maintenance plan payments. We had a touch of snow here last night, well more a touch of sleet but there it was turning the garden white and turning the heating up. Time to put aside the salads and smoothies and dig into thick soups and steaming morning plates of porridge. Saw Jamie Oliver demonstrating his recipe for chocolate porridge the other night. Whatever next? Not one I'm going to try any time soon. I like my porridge in the traditional way. My friend in Germany marks the start of winter by getting out her knitting needles and making socks for everyone. I thought I'd follow her example and get started on a pair of gloves which my hands need more than my feet need socks. So I'm off! At the rate it's going it'll be spring before I get the use of them! |
